Land of the Pine

Today through some family shuffling I was brought home to Lugoff, SC and was inundated with memories, feelings and humidity.

I love visiting home and my family. First I like to find the 3 or 4 small changes in our town (which so happened to be a newly paved road, a cleared field and the addition of a chik-fil-a though in the next town over) then I hang out some with my 17 year old puppy, Jack. He’s the best.

Then dad and I grabbed some dinner and gathered my belongings.

It’s great to be home and spend some time in the familiar. Though I will reiterate that Denverites don’t have any reason to complain about humidity. Ha

Well, my time in Ohio has come to an end. The ’84 van unfortunately wasn’t as ready for me as I was for it. Having 2 tow-truck trips to the shop, it was time for me to say farewell to the VW and my dream of driving it.

We signed the title back over this morning and my grandparents hope to sell it to someone interested in restoring this gem. I also said farewell to my amazing grandparents. We had a great weekend together making this trip worth it after all!

But now I’m off to the South to see more family and maybe…just maybe…get a car. We shall see as I board here in Dayton for Charlotte in just an hour.

Here are some pics in honor (hopefully not in memory) of the van…

Whilst staying with my grandparents, I learned a lot. From stories about my family to witty puns to new games, I always treasure my time with them. Here are some pics from my time with them.

While spending time with the grandparents they desired to learn more about Facebook. So we added my grandmother and then I showed them around the site. I think they “like” it…

Thank you Tim McGraw for inspiring this post… with “I Like it, I Love it” I know you were referring to Facebook and playing Rummy with grandparents.

Today I was acquainted with my new best friend. He/She does not have a name yet but I’ve got a feeling (woo hoo that tonight’s gonna be a good night…) and I’ve got a feeling that a name will present itself over the next 2300 miles…

For now, a picture will suffice.

Welcome to the New Old Age

Well, it’s 4:00am and it’s time for an adventure!

I love how this trip will be the combination of old (’84 VW) and new (’13 smart phone) to chronicle my journey.

So with that, enjoy these following posts as I make my way from Denver through Ohio to the South and back to Denver.

Adventure’s out there!

Welcome to the new old age…
